THE SIGN-IN UNIVERSE — OFFICIAL LORE CODEX (Community Edition v1.0)

The public canon reference for The Sign-In God and related series. Pinned by the channel. Spoilers through Season 1 only.

What This Universe Is

Stories about families as institutions — the disciplines they build, the people they throw away, and the accounts that always, eventually, come due. Every series stands alone. They share one world.

The Known Laws (as of Season 1)

  1. Systems are built, not magic. Every "system" is an instrument a family constructed to pass down a discipline — a brass bell, a factory clock, a recorded voice, software. Each generation rebuilds it from the tools of its era. What the instruments were built from, originally, is not known. Not even to the families.
  2. Streaks are sacred. Sign-in rituals bind every institution in this world. "Present, and waiting" is the closest thing the universe has to a prayer.
  3. Discipline is not the cage. Discipline is the lamp. (First Teaching of the mountain clinic.)
  4. Nobody is innocent. In this world, the difference between family and villain is whether your ledger is open.
  5. The thrown-away are collected. Every great institution in this universe was founded by, or for, someone a gate once closed on.
  6. Generational pain returns generationally. Wounds in this world bill the grandchildren. So does love.
  7. The curse: an old saying among the great houses — "one always cheats — and no one can ever prove who." No two tellings of its origin agree.
  8. Legends are unreliable. The deep past of this universe is contested inside the story. Characters who claim to know the origin of things are always missing something. So are narrators.

Canon Sources (in order of authority)

  1. Shipped episodes — what aired is what happened.
  2. This codex — official clarifications, updated by the channel only.
  3. Nothing else. Creator commentary in comments/community posts is background, not binding, unless added to this codex.

Confirmed Open Mysteries (Season 1)

These are real threads, deliberately unresolved. Theorize freely — that's what they're for:

Fan Content Policy

We love fan stories, art, theories, and videos — this universe was built with room for you in it. House rules:

  1. Fan work is fan work. Nothing created by the community becomes canon, ever, regardless of quality or popularity. Canon comes only from shipped episodes and this codex. (This protects your work too — canon can never retroactively break a fan story that was never claiming to be canon.)
  2. Play in the negative space. The open mysteries above, side characters, the forty cities, past generations — all fair game. Contradicting shipped episodes just means your story is an alternate telling, which, in a universe where "legends are unreliable," is very on-theme.
  3. Tag it. Label fan work clearly as fan-made. Don't present theories as confirmed.
  4. No leaks-as-lore. If future material leaks or is datamined, it isn't canon until it ships.
  5. Be kind in the comments. The universe's own rule applies: the difference between family and villain is whether your ledger is open.

"Sign in tomorrow."
